Mental health

“Epilepsy has challenged me.”
Mental health is resilience and self belief. Living with epilepsy has challenged me but has also revealed my mental toughness and the strength I carry within. Sport has become my outlet, it clears my mind and reminds me of what I’m capable of. It gives me purpose and drives me to be the best I can be. Even when I’m tired or overwhelmed, I push through with mental toughness.

"Training clears my head and builds confidence."
Being active strengthens my body and mind. Sport clears my head, boosts confidence, and makes me feel in control. It teaches me I can push through emotional and physical challenges. Training gives me balance and clarity. Sport isn’t just fitness—it’s how I keep my mental health in check.

"Sport helps me find purpose and strength."
Mental health is finding purpose through hard times and learning to value yourself. Sport has helped me feel free and focused. It gives me space to express myself and escape life’s pressures. Playing helps me reset and feel strong again. Sport reminds me I can overcome anything.

“Football has been a major support through tough times.”
Mental health shapes how we think, feel, act, and connect with others. It also affects how we handle stress and go about our daily lives. For me, playing football has been a major support through tough times. The sport itself helps, but it’s really the bond with my teammates and the social side of it all that’s made the biggest difference.

"Ball helps me stay grounded through life’s pressures."
Mental health means staying balanced, especially with uni, basketball, music, and family. Ball is my release and escape—it helps me clear my head and stay grounded. My elders taught me that a healthy mind is as important as a healthy body. Sport is where I reset and keep myself mentally strong.

"Every session reminds me I’m capable."
Mental health is protecting your peace and showing up for yourself. Boxing and running give me control, focus, and resilience. They’ve helped me stay strong during chaos. Every session reminds me I’m capable of pushing through. Sport has become my therapy, it helps me fight back mentally, not just physically.

“The worst part is when it makes you feel like you can’t do anything.”
Mental health in football is serious. Personally, there are things in my life and career that still play on my mind. When you’re not right mentally, it can go one of two ways , it either drives you to give that extra 10%, or it breaks you down. The worst part is when it makes you feel like you can’t do anything, like you’re alone, and you shut out the things and people you love.

“For me, sport is a powerful outlet.”
Mental health is deeply personal. It’s about finding balance, strength, and ways to navigate life’s challenges. For me, sport is a powerful outlet. It sharpens my focus, builds discipline, and creates a sense of community and escape. The endorphin rush after a workout helps ease both real and lingering stress.

"Sport and faith are my light in dark times."
Mental health is recognising when you’re not okay and seeking healing. For me, that comes through faith in Jesus Christ and sport. Football gave me discipline and resilience that helped in dark times. Sport is more than a game, it’s expression, release, and light when I need it most.

"Reach out to someone if you need help”.
Mental health is the fight you can’t always see but it’s just like boxing. Boxing taught me to stay grounded, stay breathing, and that strength is showing up, not staying silent and always to reach out to someone if you need help you can’t do everything alone.

"Fitness is more than physical, it’s healing."
Mental health is inner peace and emotional awareness. Fitness keeps me grounded, clears my mind, and boosts my mood. It reminds me of my strength and helps me push through challenges. Movement is how I stay balanced, connected to myself, and emotionally resilient during tough times.

“The ring is a chamber of truth.”
A lot of people lie in life, but there are certain places you can’t one of them is the ring. I believe in the saying “the ring is the chamber of truth” because it strips everything back. In that moment, your mental state matters just as much as your physical strength.
